Welcome to the official website of the Farina Restoration Project Group.

Farina is located within the Lake Eyre Basin, on the old alignment of the Great Northern Railway later known as the Ghan Railway, 26Kms North of Lyndhurst and 55Kms South of Marree, near the junctions of the Birdsville, Innaminka and Oodnadatta Tracks in South Australia. The walking trails, information boards and Camping Ground are open 365 days of the year. Every year between May and July the Volunteers of the Farina Restoration Group run a works program to continue the preservation and exhibition of the old Farina Town. The Volunteers also carry out research into the the Buildings, People and activities of Farina and you will find much information in the History menu.

The most remote Underground Oven and Bakery is

now closed until next season.

We’ll be open again from May 25th 2024 until July 21st 2024

for our annual 8 week season.

 

Camping is available in the Farina Station campground all year round which

provides showers and toilets and plenty of space.

If you visited Farina in 2023 and took some really great photos that you think we could use on our website or Facebook, we’d love to have a copy. Or if you have some kind of family connection to Farina and have photos or other information we’d love to hear from you and have a copy of the photos.

 

What’s on at Farina…

All year round The Farina Township, outside exhibits, signboards and camping ground are open to the Public 365 days of the year.
Sat 25th May 2024 to Sun 21st July 2024

The Farina Restoration Group 2024 Work programme will be held during this time in 2024.

The Underground Oven will be in full operation and the Bakery, Cafe and Visitor Centre open to the public. Volunteers will be working on various projects, with an emphasis on the preservation and restoration of around 18 stone buildings around the Farina Township.

Volunteer registration will open in early December 2023 and all people on our mailing list will be advised the details. If you wish to be added to our mailing list please use the link on near the top of this page.

Sat 15th June 2024 “Farina v’s the rest of Australia” Cricket match which will be held at the Farina Cricket Group (FCG) .
Sun 16th June 2024 The annual commemoration service for John Napier Bell will be held on Sunday the 16th June 2024 at Farina. The time of the service will soon be announced.
