Another milestone is reached.
3 years in the making, 3 days of transport and craneage and we are finally here.
Our Birmingham Railway Carriage & Wagon Co Ltd (nicknamed the Crompton’s),Unit 62 is finally on site in the Farina Creek Railway precinct at Farina.
Many thanks to our FRG volunteers, Bill, John, David, Tamara, Anne, Kevin, Adrian, Steve, District Council of Peterborough and Old Ghan Preservation Society Alice Springs for help in getting us to where we are today and James Contract Supplies for a very well planned and executed delivery of the 50 Tonne locomotive.
No 62 will need a reasonable amount of work to make it suitable for display. So we plan for this and next season work programs to have this work completed including a good glean and coat of paint.
We had lots of waving friends of Farina along the way. Follow the journey with a few images below.
More to come. Steve Harding.
