The Moffat(t) Family

When strolling west along 1st Street just past The Exchange Hotel you will come across Bob Moffatt’s house, one of the few homes built of stone.

Robert Carruthers Moffat emigrated to South Australia from Scotland and was a member of Clan Moffat. The reader will notice the use of a single letter ‘t’ in the surname as this was the spelling of the Clan name. The second ‘t’ in the surname appears to have been introduced by the family in later years.
