Ethel led a quite extraordinary life and gave birth to 16 children. In 1949 she wrote a diary describing much of her life, and with the generous permission of he family the Farina Restoration Group have made this available for you to read.

Ethels mother, Ellen Mills, was betrothed to William Cains and it appears that William died before the wedding event, and Ellen was "with child" at the time William died. Ellen gave birth to Ethel Ellen Cains/Mills, then three years later married George Edwards, hence Ethel Ellen's surname looking something like this "Cains/Mills/Edwards".  At this time it was legal to assume the name of the husband being the name of all the children living under one roof, so Ethel Ellen Cains/Mills became Ethel Ellen Edwards. To date the Farina Restoration Group has not found any official adoption letters. At the time of Ethel's marriage, he father was identified as George Edwards.

There is no record of Ethel owning land at Farina, however her husband William David FINN was co-owner of Lot 381 along with his brother Nathaniel FINN,.
