The 2021 Week 1 to Week 3 Restoration Works
At the start of every new Restoration season we have a few volunteers arrive early to what we call Week 0. This is the week where everything is unpacked from the shed, set up and cleaned in readiness for the start of the annual restoration programme and the operation of the Bakery and Cafe. The job is now easier with the move of the bakery kitchen and Cafe into Pattersons house. In previous years the volunteers have had to set up the bakery caravan and the tent for the Cafe, which was a strenuous task. This year it was just a matter of giving Pattersons House and the bakery kitchen a thorough ‘spring clean’ and it was ready to go.
This week also saw the building of the new public toilet facility (see pictures). To enable this a new septic tank and transpiration bed were installed, and at the same time we installed new septic tanks and transpiration beds at Toms shed and the volunteers camping ground.
Of course the highlight of the first week for the volunteers in the Bakery and Cafe was being the first to use the new facilities in Pattersons house. Kerry Storer the head baker had everyone organised and working like a well oiled machine and once again producing wonderful bread, pies and pastries for our fantastic visitors.
The stonework for 2021 also kicked off with attention being given to Moffatts house.
