There was a welcome addition to the Farina "fleet", with John driving back to Adelaide to pickup our new cool room. In previous seasons we've rented a cool room and although we manged, we really needed a more capable cool room for transporting cool and frozen goods. We found a second hand cool room with a damaged cooling unit, then had a custom tandem trailer built, and sent it off to Alaskan Air in Newton near Adelaide. They did a fantastic job of installing a new cooling unit and generously donated most of the parts and labour. 

The new cool room has doors that open wide and allow us to load a full pallet via forklift. We also fitted a generator to provide power whilst travelling and it can then be plugged into power when sitting at Farina.

Running the annual work program at Farina requires a lot of planning by members of the Committee, particularly Bill, John, Gerry and Kerry the Head Baker. So in Week 0 we had the first of our major deliveries brought up by Spog from Upper North Freight. This delivery contained most of the building materials for the railway Ticket Office, and around 15 pallets of Bakery supplies.

Unfortunately a couple of days before the delivery we had another 20mm of rain, which meant that the truck couldn't get from the main road through to Tom's Shed where we normally unload, and we had to unload all the supplies next to the main road. Once unloaded then Kevin put pallets of the Ute's and trailers and Mark and Colin ferried them over to the shed. Kevin then carried all the building materials over to the Goods Shed.

To get from the road to Tom's Shed without getting stuck was quite a complicated route and used Kevin's detailed knowledge of where the firm and soft ground couple be found.

This season Kerry decided to speed up our deliveries from the Underground oven to the Bakery so he brought the shop bike with him, and now we have the Bicycling Baker.

Chris and Kerry did the first bake on the day before opening just to get things tested and running.
